During class we watched a video clip of "The Daily Show". In this video Jon Stewart discussed the media's coverage of the Ebola "outbreak". He voiced his opinion about how the news media was hyping up Ebola in the U.S. He agreed that there is truly an outbreak in other countries and that, yes, there have been a FEW cases confirmed here in the US, but there is no need to send everyone into frenzy like the mass media is trying to do.
I also agree that Ebola is a very contagious and deadly virus, but we have greater resources, better healthcare, and higher technology to stop the virus from spreading. The media always tries to scare people into thinking that the worst is about to happen. I will say that when all of the Ebola news first started spreading and I was hearing it all over the news and the radio, I was scared. Now, I am not. So far, the "outbreak" has been nothing like the media projected it would be.
