Class:
Also, In this post I will pull some Materials from previous blog posts and expand on them.
" I'm happy that somehow, someway I've been able to spend some extra time with my daughter. In case you haven't noticed... She is my world!! We went to the carnival with a group of our family members and she had soooo much fun!"
As we neared the location of the carnival the traffic was backed up and there were bright headlights coming from every direction. There were swarms of families and groups of teenagers crossing at every intersection. Finally, I found a parking spot. We walked into the carnival full of loud music, beaming lights and riders screaming from the thrill. The kids couldn't contain their excitement and each told of which ride they would go on first. We waited in what seemed like a never ending line at the ticket booth. As we approached the window the kids became more and more bouncy. We finally got our wristbands and made our way to the first ride. Surprisingly, there was not much of a line when we got there. The kids ran through the gate and all picked a colorful cart to sit in. The ride started a few second later and their smiles lit up! They waved with enthusiasm every time they came around and before you knew it the first ride was over. With every ride they had the same look of amazement.
Home: Home life has been pretty much the same. I've been trying to spend as much time as possible outdoors with the kids before the warm weather really breaks. Saturday we had another football game. The boys are still undefeated 4-0! And the super cute cheerleaders always make the boys play harder!! After the football game, we took a family trip to Applebee's for a celebration lunch! Mariyah loves their steak. But, that was not the end of our busy day. We then went to our towns community day. The kids had a blast. There were Moon bounces, obstacle courses, face painting, and games. Then, we went home and played some more. All of the wear and tear made for an early bed time! SCORE!
Sunday was a pretty busy day too. When my nephew Nicholas was born, he had a cleft lip and cleft palate. Every year the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia hosts an annual cleft lip and cleft palate family picnic. It's always a really nice turnout and a great opportunity for kids with CL/CP and their families to get together with people who have been through the same struggles and some new ones who are about to face the long process of surgeries. This year we met a family local to our community who have a four-month-old daughter that was born with cleft lip and cleft palate. This family is preparing for her first surgery. It was a great opportunity to be able to talk with them and share some of our experiences and give them our insight. My nephew is 14 now in the process is still ongoing. We recently found out that he may have one more surgery, which is a bone graft. He has already had several surgeries starting at five months old. This will be my topic for my creative nonfiction essay. I think I'm getting excited about this!
Well, we only had one class this week. Prof. Mangini's mother had to have surgery on Thursday, therefore class was cancelled. Hopefully that all worked out well for them. We're learning a lot about what's to be expected in our creative nonfiction essay. I think I have a great topic which I will share later in this post. Also, In this post I will pull some Materials from previous blog posts and expand on them.
