This week in class we continued to explore possible topics for our I-search papers. We were required to choose a topic of our choice from the New York Times Room for Debate. You can find that post here. While I chose to cover a topic on whether or not parents should help their children with homework, others chose topics such as physician assisted suicide and whether or not marijuana should be legalized. We broke up into groups and discussed these topics and interestingly enough each person had a different opinion. I can say that topics that I felt strongly about before our group discussions, such as whether or not marijuana should be legalized, I no longer know exactly what side of the fence I'm on. So, maybe some more research is needed. While browsing through some of my classmates blogs, I found a blog post by Paige to be very interesting and was happy to see that we both shared similar opinions. I also found an interesting post by Sharnee Davis. It was her review of Food, inc. She made some very interesting points and we both agree that the movie left some very important questions unanswered.
Our first due date for our I-search papers is quickly approaching (faster that I would like). I am still exploring some options for my paper. I want to research a topic that really interests me. I haven't really figured that out yet, but I will by the end of today.
At home things have been a little different. Actually quiet. Elijah left our house and went back with his mom. It was sad and I'm still unsure if it was the best decision, but had to be done. It's been a bit of an adjustment for all of us, especially Mariyah. Although, she has been more well behaved. Maybe because is no longer sharing my attention. Next Tuesday I'll go back to my allergist for yet another round of allergy injections. I am actually really nervous this time around! I DO NOT want another reaction like what happened a few weeks ago. I guess I just have to keep on trying and see what happens. It's all trial and error. PRAY FOR ME!
