CLASS: In class this week we have been very busy. We first discussed Found Poems. We were asked to create a found poem using our creative non fiction essays. You can find mine here. A found poem is made by taking phrases from texts that should include figurative language and involve the theme of that text. We also discussed Rhetoric. We discussed Aristotles Triangle which is a triangular diagram that represents the balance of all three appeals that a writer should use for an effective argument. Those three appeals include Ethos which represents the speakers credibility, Logos which represents the message and whether its logical or not and lastly is the Pathos which is the audiences emotion and response to the argument. This time of year is great for learning this as all of the candidates are trying to persuade people to vote for them through their TV ads and phone calls.
HOME: This week in class and at home was a little off for me. For the past few months I have been going weekly to get allergy injections. It all started back in April when I had yet another severe episode of vertigo and started to see a specialist. After several different diagnostic tests and bloodwork they came to the conclusion that my severe allergies and sinus problems and a deviated septum were most likely causing these dizzy spells. So, they did extensive allergy testing and started me with weekly injections. Each week, the amount of serum is increased. This week I had a really bad reaction to my injection, which is almost normal. I had severe sneezing and coughing, tightness in my chest, and trouble breathing. As I said, this is considered normal, but I have to be extremely careful each week now as anaphylaxis can occur. SCARY!
